Well, at least they’ve got a sense of humor. (: Wow, I’m getting lazy with this whole blogging thing, huh?

I’m going to start this off by paying tribute to everyone who has died this month. RIP passengers and crew of Air France flight 447, Ed McMahon, Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, everyone who died in bomb blasts in Iraq and Afghanistan, in the “revolt” in Iran, and everyone else who has died anywhere in the world, including those who die of starvation everyday in underdeveloped countries or due to violence because of governments. Oh, and Billy Mays just died. He did the oxyclean commercials. Also, RIP KK, you will be missed. She was a girl from my area who died in a car crash last week. Actually, there’s been at least 10 deaths due to car crashes in my area just this month. Wow. Bad month.

The President of Hondouras has been detained and sent to Costa Rica. President Jose Manuel Zelaya arrived there after a military coup. Because you know, there aren’t enough of those going on in the world right now, right? This happened right after he vowed to go through with a referandum the Supreme Court ruled illegal. Apparently, even though there were military guards walking around, there was no unrest in the country. Let’s see how long that lasts. Apparently the military ruled the country until the 80′s, then the democracy came about. And now it’s going back. It always does. So yes, I agree with you Mr. President, this is an attack on democracy.

Annoyance with the government of Iran right now. They turned around and blamed us for the death of Neda. According to them, the CIA or some other government group murdered her, and the Basij did not. Lying wankers. The Ayatollah is also telling the people on either side to “calm down.” You’re kidding me, right? YOU ordered the military and police to attack and kill your own people and now this? SHOVE IT.

The Middle East aren’t the only countries opposing Islamic terror. Somalia, the country best known for it’s pirates that hijacked several boats in the area, is also fighting off Islamic terrorism. The US has sent ammo and weapons. Mogadishu all over again, eh? Sorry, Black Hawk Down, you know.

French President Sarkozy tried to outlaw the hijab. Honestly, I don’t know why, but it’s his thing. I don’t think it should be outlawed because what if it’s something they wear for their religion and they feel like they’re betraying it? I mean is that really a stretch? But I get it, with women in Iran standing forward, I get trying to get the women to be free, but it’s their choice.

Oh, apparently the economy is so screwed up that we are trying to get China to buy our debt. Really? “Hey, you there. Come buy our debt. We won’t kill you. Kay, thanks.” That’ll go over well. They love us that much, you know. Speaking of the economy, in India the economy is affecting marriage choices. Odd, isn’t it.

Wimbledon news! Now, I’m not a big tennis fan but I decided to take a break from CNN because that boring Your Money show was on (remember, I’m 15. I don’t care. (:) and now I’m watching Serena Williams totally owning. Andy Roddick won yesterday, and Roger Federer I believe won his match this morning. At least he was winning by quite a bit when I was watching. Venus Williams won yesterday as well. For a whole list, visit the Wimbledon website. Serena just won, by the way. (:

Back to the world, American troops are pulling out of Iraq soon and with the escalated violence, I’m gonna say it’s not going to be good. Now, don’t get me wrong, I think the war in Iraq was/is unethical and completely uncalled for, but also being  a human rights activist, I think we should do something to help the people. I’m a horribly conflicted person, but that’s just how it is. What do you think? Do you think America is making  a horrible mistake? Or do you think that it’s good we aren’t risking the lives of America’s youth on a war that is UNETHICAL and we shouldn’t even be involved in? Oh, and big surprise, Iran is interfering in Iraq. Is there anything that freaking government hasn’t completely screwed up?

Gay rights rallies in New York have really made me happy. No, I am not gay, but having a lot of friends who are bisexual, gays and lesbians I’m glad that New York might become the 7th state to legalize it. I mean, in all honesty, even if it goes against your religion, it is NOT you’re right to control what people do. I don’t think the government should interfere and control what people do. It’s not their say. That’s how you get dictatorships or revolts like, big shock, IRAN, or Honduras. I’m gonna get my head ripped off for this next one, but it’s like abortion. Now, before I go into this, I do not like abortion. Quite frankly the only time I support it is when someone gets raped. But even then, there’s adoption. Still. However, I do not think the government should take away that right. So no, do not overturn Roe v Wade. It’s your decision, not the government’s.

Bon Jovi is my hero, he posted a song on YouTube for the people of Iran in Farsi and English. Yes, it’s Stand By Me (:

So I’d really like to know your comments on these things. Where do you stand on the situation in Iran? What about Iraq, Honduras, and Somalia? And the economy, what about it? And of course, you’re position on abortion and gay rights.

Cheers!

Not like we were holding our breath for the conflict to be resolved over night, but still. The death toll keeps climbing and there’s more shocking videos on twitter from those in Iran. Yes, I realize Twitter isn’t the most reliable source, so I won’t post anything directly from there until I see it on iReport or CNN. Even then it’s not sure, but it’s all we’ve got with the media blackout.

In (hopefully) happier news, Mir Hossein Mousavi has called for a peaceful demonstration all over Iran and hopefully the world tomorrow, June 23, 2009.  You can read more about this on Mousavi’s supposed Facebook page (not confirmed but hasn’t steered us wrong so far). Unless you’re fluent in Farsi, though, you’re going to need a translator.

In news not involving Iran for now, North Korea has threatened to nuke us should we try to attack. That’s not really anything new and I doubt Kim Jong has the balls to go through with it, but we shall see. Death to the dictator, you Communist bastard. :) That was a bit much. Still, Clinton needs to go bitch slap Kim Jong. And the Ayatollah and Ahmedinijad. Wankers. She’s healing well, by the way.

The largest suicide bomb blast this year in Iraq has killed at least 80 last time I checked, and wounded over a hundred. I don’t have the exact number but still.  Also in our War news, that journalist escaped from the Taliban! YOU ARE MY HERO! How did he manage it?! Thank God he got away! He might have ended up like another Nick Berg. :( RIP.

The families of the Air France flght that disappeared, then crashed, off the coast of South America will be given money, I think, and their family member’s belongings. How about make a plane that WONT CRASH. Just saying. Going along with that, I found a newspaper I saved from a few days before the inauguration and thought it was quite ironic what one of the headlines was, considering. It read something like Safest Two Years For American Airlines. And now… we’ve had a crash pretty much every month this year. Joyus!

Health care! The issue that seems to be plaguing the government of this great and free country. And the one issue that no one can agree on. Do we make it government controlled, do we keep it the same? I think we should do what one state did (not sure but I think it’s Massachusetts) and make it a law that everyone must have health care. It worked there, why won’t it work in the rest of the country? Well this is something that isn’t on the top of my list right now, so I may have my facts wrong.

Alright, this just showed up on CNN. Terrorists can’t fly but they can buy guns. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! They can buy guns and possibly make homemade bombs and you don’t think they would have other ways to get where they would want to go? They’re calling it the “terror gap.” That’s a pretty big friggen gap. And a dangerous one too.

Alright, now to the latest pictures and videos from Iran. Remember, some of these are very graphic.

Many more tweets with Allahu-Akbar (God is Great), death to the dictator, and lots of talk of the protest tomorrow.

Up to date pictures of the Iran Situation.

It’s difficult to focus on anything else going on now, although as of right now I’m hearing of a subway collision in Washington, D.C. The crash occurred between the red and green lines, close to Takoma (red) and Fort Totten (green) stations. As of this point 1 person is confirmed dead, and 9 confirmed injured. The crash occurred on the same line and it isn’t confirmed if it’s a head on crash or if one slammed into the back of the other. The videos shown now show one train is on top of the other. I don’t know if this is lucky or not, but the crash happened on above ground tracks, making it easier to get to. I’ve been on those trains before, they go pretty freaking fast. Such a tragedy. :(

Here’s a map of the Metro System in Washington, D.C.

Well, that’s all for now. What do you think? The world is in great shape, isn’t it? What else could possibly go wrong? Remember to wear green and protest tomorrow!

Cheers!

Operation Beautiful is something that started out on givesmehope.com. Originally a few people wrote little notes saying “you’re beautiful!” and “smile! you’re gorgeous!” and put the notes on car doors and other public places. Now, it’s become a movement. Operation Beautiful is to bash the self esteem issues in people in the world, especially women. Getting involved is as easy as grabbing a pen and paper and writing a simple note like “you’re beautiful!” then putting it up in a public place (bathroom mirrors, dressing rooms, ect.) for all to see. Even is just putting the note in your own house can make a difference and brighten someones day. :) So join the movement! It’s not that hard and when you write these things, you believe them about yourself too! Fat talk is probably one of the most toxic things you can do to yourself. You are worth it and you aren’t useless. :)

Who’s with me? :)

Hello Blogworld!

Well, since this is my first blog I figure I’ll tell you a little about myself. I’m fifteen, very interested in politics and what’s happening in the world. I’m very liberal and opinionated, but I respect and take other people’s opinions into consideration. So this blog is where I’m going to talk about issues because I pretty much annoy my friends and family when I talk about this stuff. Oh and I tend to swear when I’m mad or feel strongly about something. Fair warning. :) So here goes!

I’m sure you’ve all heard by now (unless you live under a rock) about the “election fallout” in Iran. I’m going to post videos and pictures from Iran in this blog and, fair warning, they are graphic. The Basij and the paramilitary have begun beating protestors after a speech from the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at friday prayers. The death toll as of now is unconfirmed, but according to CNN yesterday it was up to at least 150.

Tehran isn’t the only place protests seem to be happening, though. In Washington, D.C., NYC, Atlanta, Seattle and LA, people- majority Iranian-Americans- have demonstrated in front of places like the UN and the White House. It’s great to see America getting involved in this! Except, you know, we aren’t. Because it’s “not our fight.” This isn’t freaking Vietnam, we aren’t telling you to go napalm the place, just don’t say “the whole world is watching” and do nothing. Especially after Mahmoud Amedinijad came out and blamed all of this on western powers. Seriously? Screw you Mahmoud. Death to the dictators.

Neda, the young girl who was killed yesterday by the Basij, have become the face of this revolution. She was a bystander with her father and a Basij sniper shot her in the heart. She died within minutes, and her father had to watch. She really is the face of this movement now, especially considering her name means ‘divine voice.’

Twitter has also played a huge role in this movement. Some people have called it a “cyber revolution” because of this. I know I’ve been following Twitter like crazy since those disputed elections Thursday, June 12, 2009. This started because Ahmedinijad won out over the supposed favorite Mousavi. Now people have been “tweeting” like crazy about the Ayatollah, Ahmedinijad, and Neda, as well as what President Obama isn’t doing. Don’t get me wrong, I support Obama and pretty much made my dad vote for him, but right now I’m not too happy.

I think the government in Iran needs to be held responsible for the rigging of the election (because we all know there’s no way Ahmedinijad won that election legally) and for all the innocent lives they’ve taken. Those who have died will see justice. They will not have died in vain. I think we need to get involved before more people die, and considering the media blackout, we have no idea what is really going on. We just have to rely on what we get from iReports on CNN. Which isn’t much, but it’s something.

WARNING: Some of these videos and pictures are extremely graphic.

Another Young Man Shot – Protest Footage

Can you believe this? Kind of reminds me of Tienamen Square. Neda’s kind of like the guy who stood in front of the tank, isn’t she? So what do you think about all of this? Holding out for a revolution or do you think the military crackdown will work?

Cheers!
